Pride of the British Indian Gujarati Bharuchi Vohra Community.
Latif Jiva, a proud son of our Gujarati Bharuchi Vohra community, has written history by achieving the prestigious London Classics medal. This honour is only awarded to those who complete all three of London’s toughest sporting events: the London Marathon, RideLondon 100, and the two-mile Swim Serpentine. Few achieve this. Latif has done it while carrying the values of discipline, resilience, and commitment. Only months earlier, he also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, standing tall at 19,000ft.
This is not only Latif’s personal success, it is a moment of pride for all of us. It shows how far our community has come in the UK. From the struggles of the first generation to today’s achievements, we have integrated, contributed, and now stand recognised on national stages. Latif’s success reflects the spirit of our elders who worked hard to build a foundation for us, and the ambition of the new generation who take those values further.
His journey breaks barriers. Endurance sports often lack South Asian representation, yet Latif has shown that with determination, faith, and community support, nothing is beyond reach. He proves that our heritage strengthens us, not limits us.
Latif now calls on others in the Vohra and wider South Asian community to step forward. As he says: “We belong on these start lines, and we deserve to cross these finish lines.”
When one of us achieves, the whole community rises. Today, we celebrate Latif Jiva’s triumph as our collective pride.
